Mortgage Payment Protection
Your mortgage is likely to be your biggest commitment in terms
of the amount you owe and the monthly repayment.
As long as you are always able to make your monthly payments
then you will be able to repay the mortgage while maintaining
a healthy credit file.
If you were unable to make your payments due to illness
or unemployment then this could have a detrimental effect
on your relationship with the lender and your ability to obtain
credit in the future.
In order to protect against this you can arrange a mortgage
payment protection policy which will allow you to continue
to pay your mortgage even if you lose all or part of your
income due to illness or unemployment.
You can chose whether you want to protect against
illness only, unemployment only or both together. You will
receive a payment equivalent to your monthly payment and possibly
a set amount extra which will allow you to pay your mortgage
and associated insurances.
Typically you will start to receive the payments after the
first month and these will continue to be paid for up to twelve
months if you do not return to work during this period.
